In memory of

Kevin Wand

1947 - 2026

Kevin Francis Wand

November 6, 1947 - October 18, 2026

Kevin passed peacefully in his sleep on October 18, 2026. He was born a Scorpio in 1947 and raised in Montreal North, the second-youngest of nine children in a big family that loves out loud. He carried that family spirit throughout his life, making friends (most) everywhere he went and leaving an impression when he didn’t leave with a friend. He had a generous streak that knew almost no bounds and a talent for fixing just about anything. If something needed doing, Kevin was the kind of guy who could usually figure it out for you. He also so loved being uncle Kevin (and GREAT-great-uncle Kevin) to so many (SO MANY) nieces and nephews, and now hands over the family joke-telling mantle to the next generation.

He leaves Gisèle, his wife of 52 years, his girls (and son in law), his grandchildren (whom he adored), his big brother, and an impressive collection of RedBlacks and Sens jerseys and hats, not to mention a fair few Algonquin Wolves and Nepean Blue Devils shirts too. Kevin will now join his parents, brothers, and sisters in his next chapter and we know that means the Wand party in the sky is about to get a little bit louder.

Details around a celebration of his life will follow soon. In the meantime, and if you are so inclined please raise a glass in his honour, tell a slightly inappropriate but action filled joke at a family gathering, take someone you love to a hockey or football game, and consider making a donation in his honour to Hospice Care Ottawa - and in particular to Ruddy Shenkman Hospice where he (and we all) received such amazing care in his final weeks.

We will miss Uncle Kevin so much. He was the light of the party and his laugh after his jokes was the best part of all. He always took the time to talk to everyone in the room. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy passed down to his loving family. Rest in peace dear uncle till we meet again🙏
