Katherine Ann Mepham

Katherine Ann Mepham

1950–2026

It is with profound love and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Katherine Ann Mepham, age 76, on May 11, 2026, in Ottawa, Ontario.

Born in Brantford, Ontario, on February 24, 1950, Katherine was the cherished daughter of the late Douglas and Doreen Mepham, and sister to Theodore, Paul, and David. She earned her Master of Education from the University of Ottawa in 1988 and worked in the public service until her retirement in 2017.

Katherine was a deeply loving and compassionate person whose life was guided by a strong sense of justice, advocacy, and unwavering devotion to her family. A lifelong, dedicated mother, her nurturing spirit was reflected even in her final moments, as she left her son with her familiar and loving reminders: “take it easy, drive safely, and get an early sleep.”

In a final act of generosity and service, Katherine donated her body to the University of Ottawa for scientific research, ensuring that her legacy of helping others will continue for years to come.

She leaves behind a rich legacy of love and will be profoundly missed by her children: Jessica Scallen (husband Craig and son Oliver), Lucas Sellars (sons Isaac and Anthony), and Duncan Sellars (wife Kelly and daughter Abigail). She also found great joy in the community she built in her apartment in her final years.

Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Katherine’s life at 1:00pm, Saturday, June 6th, 2026 in the Ground Floor Community Room, 811 Gladstone Avenue, Ottawa.

I miss our tea and cookies dates. We had tea at her place on Monday afternoon so it will be forever my turn now. I miss her and she is in my thought ever day. I still don't really believe she is truly gone. God by my dear friend. Such a great picture of her wonderful personality.
