Manfred Gerhard Maack

Manfred Gerhard Maack passed away late evening, October 14th, 2026 after a short stay in hospital.
Manfred was born in Hamburg, Germany, October 27th 1942. He was evacuated during WW2 to Winterlingen in Baden-Württemberg where he lived until graduating from college. He met Jean Maack in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, they married in Berlin in 1969 and moved to Ottawa in 1970.
Manfred held many different positions in local Ottawa restaurants and from 1985 - 1998 he operated Manfred's Restaurant with support from many family members.
Manfred spent his retirement years in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with a diverse community of snowbirds. Manfred is predeceased by his wife Jean Alison Timonin Maack. Manfred is survived by his four children, Nikolaus (Michelle) Meghan, Tristan (Michelle) and Frederick and 4 grandchildren, Hannah, Corina, Edward and Alexander. Manfred was also very close to his niece Tracey Wait and loved all of his pets, but mostly his Mexican rescue dog, Zippy.
Manfred's family, would like to thank the medical professionals at the Ottawa Hospital – General Campus for their care and help of Manfred in his final days.
A celebration of life is being planned for December 2026.
