Kenneth James Meek

1937-2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kenneth James Meek, who passed away on  March 29th 2026 at the age of 88.

Born and raised in Cornwall, Ontario,  Ken came from humble beginnings that shaped the man he became—grounded, resilient and generous. These early experiences stayed with him throughout his life and were reflected in his strong work ethic and determination.

Still in his late teens, he started out on his career as a draftsperson working in a highly respected field within Atomic Energy in Deep River. He quickly became known as a talented detailed draftsman with a strong eye for quality control, contributing to an important and evolving area of science and technology. It was here at a dance that he met the love of his life Morna.

Ken proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, demonstrating a deep sense of duty and commitment to his country. Following his service, he went on to become a professor at St. Lawrence College in Cornwall, where he inspired and mentored countless students. Known for his knowledge, high standards of performance, reliability and integrity - he made a lasting impression on those he taught and worked alongside.

An athlete at heart, Ken carried a lifelong passion for sports and physical activity. A competitive athlete in his own right, he brought that same drive and dedication into his teaching years, where he became a coach for varsity volleyball and later a cross-country ski coach for the Ski Club. He found great pride in supporting and mentoring students and athletes, helping them grow both on and off the field.

Despite his many athletic accomplishments, Ken remained a man who valued perseverance, family and doing things the right way. Together with his beloved wife and child, he opened his home in Cornwall to many who were down on their luck or in need of a temporary place to stay, offering quiet generosity and support without hesitation. He will be especially remembered for his quirky, often boisterous sense of humour—never subtle, and always capable of bringing a smile to those around him. A perfectionist by nature, he had an incredible mind for detail and a remarkable knowledge of trivia, often surprising those around him with his sharp memory and insight.

He is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Morna (MacDonald), his only daughter Kimberly, of whom he was beyond proud, his son in law Andrew and his two beautiful grandchildren Patrick ( Camryn ) and Brianna (Grayson) who brought him immense joy. He is also remembered by his brother his brotherly/sisterly cousins, many friends, colleagues, athletes and former students whose lives he touched. During his final days, he continued to show his trademark sense of humour, along with remarkable bravery, strength and determination. His new home at the Carp Commons brought him a meaningful sense of community and comfort, especially in knowing his wife would be surrounded by that same care and support. His legacy of service, dedication, generosity and sense of humour will live on in all who knew him.

A private service with family will be held during the summer months in a favorite natural setting.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
