In memory of

Joyce Stewart

1932 - 2025

Joyce Elizabeth Stewart

Wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend

Joyce (nee Gibson) passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025 at the age of 93 with her loving family by her side. Daughter of the late William and Phyllis Gibson, she was born on June 5, 1932 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Beloved wife of Don.  Devoted mother to Linda Philippe (Percy), Lori (Bob Beiersdorfer) and Karen Kelly (Mike).  Adoring grammy to Michael, Brittany (Dom), Scott and Shae-Lynn (Jeff).

Survived by her brother Grant Gibson (Lynn), brother-in-law Norm McMinn and nieces and nephews as well as a loving circle of friends.

Predeceased by her brother Robert Gibson and his wife Joan, sister Phyllis McMinn, nephew Doug Gibson and niece Jennifer Gibson.

Joyce held a variety of jobs in her life including Comptometer operator, bookkeeper, and “Avon Lady”, but she found her true passion as a florist at Fines Flowers.  She loved making fresh flower arrangements and tending to her garden.  Her most important job was being a mother and grandma.  She was devoted to making a happy and loving home for her family.  She always “had our back” as our unwavering defender and supporter.  She was a beautiful person and will be remembered for her kind and gentle disposition, wisdom, wit and joy that she quietly brought to others.

She was a dedicated Seventh-day Adventist Christian whose life fully exemplified her sincere faith.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff at the Promenade Retirement Residence – from the housekeepers and dining staff, to the front-line healthcare workers and management – who demonstrated genuine care and compassion and became Joyce’s extended family over the past 4 years.  Joyce developed a special friendship with a few of the staff and that made her last years so much more enjoyable and fulfilling.

Flowers gratefully declined.  If you so desire, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.

A service of celebration of Joyce’s life will take place in the near future.

My condolences to you and your family, Ms. Linda. Your love and care for your mom made an impact and was an incredible example of Christ's love. Ms. Joyce was an absolute delight and always lit up when speaking of her grandchildren. Praying for you as you navigate the next steps and continue to be a pillar for your family. Much love, Amara & Vitaliy Lim

Although I was not related to Joyce, I am married to Tracy McMinn, Joyces niece, whose Mom was Joyces beloved younger sister, Phyllis. Joyce was a wonderful, funny, generous , caring wife, mother, grandmother and Aunt. Like her younger sister, she was either laughing or crying..lol! When they would get together, it would be a blast just watching them interact. The entire Gibson clan were and are wonderful people and that is also reflected in the Stewart family. Even though I did not see her often, I will miss her dearly. Our loss is heaven's gain. She can now be reunited with Phyll and Bob. God blees and may she rest in peace.
