With hearts full of gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we celebrate Heather Davis (formerly Bennett, née Ralph), born May 5, 1939, who passed away on September 4, 2026, after navigating cancer with grace, courage, and dignity. Heather's story began as the cherished daughter of Olive and Manford Ralph. She grew up surrounded by love and laughter alongside her sisters, Holly Ralph, Diane Stephenson (David), and Roslyn Cawthorne (Stuart). 

Heather's pride and joy live on through her daughters, Alicia Bennett, Kristin Armstrong (Kevin), and Natalie McDowell (Kent). She is also survived by her loved grandchildren: Alexander (Megan), Bennett, Brianna (Patrick), Joshua, Emily, and Odin. Love multiplied when Heather shared her life with her beloved husband, Bob. Heather is survived by Bob Davis and his sons, Christopher (Sheila), Doug (Kim), Greg (Nicole), and Glenn (Suzanna), along with twelve cherished grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. 

She will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family in Ireland. Heather graduated from the Ottawa Civic Hospital Nursing Class of 1960. Her career spanned Home Care, the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON), the Ontario Government, and the Federal Government, culminating in her receiving the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in recognition of her exceptional contributions to Canadian healthcare. 

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Mankal and the team at Riverside Health Medical Clinic, Dr. Tom Tonguri, Dr. Lemieux, and the staff at Ontario Health at Home. Special thanks also to Zara, Irene, France, and Dr. Goindi, along with the team at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice, for their exceptional care, comfort, and compassion. 

A Celebration of Life will take place at MacKay United Church in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2026, followed by a reception. Live streaming of the service will be available through www.mackayunited.ca. 

In lieu of sadness, please celebrate Heather's remarkable life by raising a glass, playing a round of golf or bridge, or hug your loved ones a little tighter today. If you wish, donations to the Ottawa Mission would be a meaningful way to honour her compassionate and generous spirit.

Heather was my dearly loved sister-in-law. I thank God the day she came into my brother, Bob's life and then the Davis family. She had so many wonderful qualities. She was smart, really smart, elegant, always impeccably turned out, fun to be with, and I shall miss her so much. She was the type who could organize a stupendous dinner party, and mix with important people, like ambassadors from other countries, but she was also down to earth, someone to share a drink with and chat about just about anything from fashion to politics. She was a truly special person.

Heather was my sister-in-law and was deeply loved and appreciated by the entire Davis family. Her joy of life, which included fine food, wine, whiskey, bridge, travel, cycling, laughter and fun, was inspiring. She made a wonderful partner to my oldest brother Bob. We were certainly lucky to know her and will miss her very much.
