Ghislaine (Lynne) Shane, a devoted sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and caring friend passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025 at Kingston General Hospital.
Born in Papineauville, Quebec by parents Antonio and Anna.
Following the death of her beloved Bob Bernicky, she moved from St. Catharines to Plantagenet with the support of her loving family. She remarried Hubert Shane (deceased) and settled in Kingston. She worked at Hotel Dieu Hospital.
Lynne loved life and music. She was a regular at 560 Legion, originally on Sundays for dances and more recently for the Tuesday night “jam” session. She had a wonderful circle of friends for whom she cared deeply.
Lynne will be missed by her loving children, Rachel (Lester Dunlop), Linda (Jacques LeBlanc) and Robert Bernicky.
Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, Matt LeBlanc (Alyssa), Adam Bernicky (Bailey) and Jennifer Bernicky (Adrian Grew) and great grandchildren Quinn and Leo.
She received regular support from her siblings throughout her life namely René (Pauline deceased), Rachel (Roland deceased), Nicole (Yvon deceased), Hubert (deceased),(Madeleine), Jean (Pauline deceased) Marthe (deceased), Yves (Johanne) and Huguette (Marcel). She was loved and respected by many nieces and nephews.
We extend our thanks to her wonderful care team at Queens Family Medicine, particularly Dr. K. Hall-Barber.
The doctors, nurses and staff of Kingston General Hospital Emergency and Kidd 10 medicine offered great comfort during her last few days. We owe them a debt of gratitude.
Thank you to Father Dave who was there when she needed him most.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
