Ian Yeomans

1962 - 2026

Ian Charles Yeomans passed away on March 21, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on February 19, 1962 in Ottawa, Ontario, Ian lived a life marked by service, dedication, and kindness.

After growing up in the city's south-end and briefly in Arnprior in the late '70s, he attended Arnprior District High School, eventually graduating from Ridgemont High School in 1980. Ian proudly joined the 30th Field Artillery Regiment (RCA). During his service, he served as a United Nations Peacekeeper in Cyprus—an experience that reflected his deep commitment to helping others.

Ian went on to build a long and respected career with OC Transpo as an operator and instructor, where he was known for his friendly smile and mentorship. He retired in 2021 after many years of dedicated service to the community.

Ian will be deeply missed by his wife and soulmate, Melody Yeomans (Mammen) and his son Jacob Yeomans, both of Ottawa. Predeceased by his father, E.T. Yeomans II (Ted), his birth mother, Mildred Currie and his mom, Brenda Yeomans. He is survived by his sister, Helen Yeomans of Halifax, NS; his brothers, Glenn Yeomans of Parksville, BC, and Ted Yeomans III (Anne) of Ottawa; as well as many nieces and nephews. Ian will be remembered as a dedicated and generous person, always quick to laugh and lend a hand to someone in need.

Visitation will be held on April 9, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Funeral Co-operative 419 St. Laurent Boulevard. Graveside service and burial will take place alongside his parents at Beechwood Cemetery, in the RCMP section on April 10, 2026, at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Innercity Veterans Outreach & Support or The Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated.

On behalf of the entire Regimental family, I extend my deepest condolences to the entire Yeomans family. Sgt (ret) Ian Yeomans served Canada and The Regiment with quiet professionalism and genuine compassion. His service with the 30th Field Regiment RCA and as a United Nations Peacekeeper in Cyprus reflected the very best traditions of The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery—duty undertaken without fanfare, in the service of peace and others. Sgt Yeomans exemplified what it means to be a Gunner: steady, dependable, and grounded in service to something larger than oneself. He will be remembered with respect and gratitude by all who served with him. Ubique.

- BGen (ret) David Patterson, Col Cmdt RCA, on April 2, 2026
