Fern a été le compagnon de Judith Smith (Viau) pendant 50 ans. Père dévoué, il manquera profondément à ses enfants Michel, Guy, Diane, Elaine (Jacques) et Nicole (Denis), ainsi qu'à ses beaux-enfants Danny (Charleen), Kelly (Tracy) et Jill (Shawn). Sa force, sa sagesse et son amour inconditionnel vivront dans leurs cœurs.
L'héritage de Fernand se poursuit à travers ses nombreux petits-enfants (19), arrière-petits-enfants (21) et arrière-arrière-petits-enfants (2), qui chériront à jamais sa mémoire.
Il a été précédé par ses parents, Evelyn et Oscar Gagnon, et par ses six frères : Marcel, Royal, Raymond, Gerry, Gary et Roger. Ses frères et sœurs survivants, Béatrice et Eddy (Carmen), se souviennent de lui avec amour.
Fern a fièrement servi la ville d'Ottawa pendant 37 ans et a été membre de l'armée de réserve pendant neuf ans. En dehors du travail, il se réjouissait de pêcher, de chasser et de passer du temps en plein air. Sa présence apportait du réconfort, ses mains de l'aide et son rire de la joie.
Fern souhaitait qu'une célébration de la vie ait lieu à Carlsbad Springs. La famille et les amis sont invités à se réunir le vendredi 20 juin à 13 h au centre communautaire de Carlsbad, 6020, chemin Piperville, Carlsbad Springs (Ontario).
Au lieu de fleurs, des dons à la mémoire de Fern peuvent être faits à une œuvre de bienfaisance de votre choix.

Grandpa Fern was a wonderful man, and I am thankful for a lifetime of memories with him. He was always there to watch my hockey games, teach me about fishing and cars, and make me laugh, reminding me to take a moment and enjoy life. I had the incredible experience of calling Fern my grandpa for 30 years! Katie, my wife, was lucky enough to call him grandpa for 5.
