David Harry Milman QC

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away after a long illness in Ottawa on January 9, 2022. His good humor, negotiating skills and enthusiasm as a traveling companion and life partner have made his life with Valerie Burton a joy.

He started a muffin business in France and generated a market for a product that was not well known there at the time, which resulted in sales to the Accor Group and to Fauchon, Paris. After moving to Ottawa, he also organized grocery stores and Byward Market vendors to donate fruits and vegetables to complement the food bank's efforts for Good Neighbor's House patrons, and he picked up and helped distribute the food.

Special thanks to Drs Jeejeebhoy (Toronto) and Akbari (Ottawa) for their special care and compassion.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Valerie Burton, his children Warren (Andrea), Lisa, Tara (Paul), Dan (Gabby), his grandchildren Eleanor (Ben), Rebecca, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Patrick and Jack, and his niece Judy (Leonard), other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Plan International or the charity of your choice. Thank you.

Sympathy Messages

David and Val, Janny and I have fond memories of our 2 trips to France with you, both memorable in their own way. Good learning trips, with Dave and Val pointing out highlights and taking us places just slightly off the beaten path. Also the great meals served up by Val and eaten with gusto by Dave, an avid trencherman, even with his digestive challenges. We will miss him, his quiet good humour and positive attitude. And he never talked about those good works he did for the community. A good man. We are proud to have known him.
