In memory of

Allan Meltzer

1947 - 2024

Allan Meltzer

November 25, 1947 - January 8, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce Allan's passing.

Allan was predeceased by his parents Arnold and Helen (Shore). He is survived by his wife Deborah Tambeau; son Jonathan (Sean); daughter Megan; grandchildren Gabby, Jerrod and Benjamin; brother Gary and cousins.

Lovingly remembered by his sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Allan was a man of many interests and talents, including acting, and had a great love of playing Irish music on his flute and whistles.

He will be forever loved and missed by his family and many friends.

Profound thanks to everyone working on the sixth floor at Élisabeth Bruyère Residence for their care and kindness during Allan's stay.

As per his wishes, there will be no service.

Deborah, we are so very sorry to hear of Allan’s illness and passing. We will always treasure the beautiful photos he took when Deian was a baby, still referred to in our family as the ‘Deian in the daffodils’ series. He was a real gentleman with a kind and generous heart. Our sincere condolences. Kathy and Bahman

I worked with Allan for many years at Parks Canada. He was a person everyone liked. Serious about his work but friendly and smiling. We both liked to walk and bicycle and had ancestors in Ireland. The second last time I saw Allan was after he retired. In the lobby of the Ottawa Little Theatre he thanked me for coming to see his play (which was good). The last time was a chance meeting on a sidewalk. I wish there had been more of those. - Jim Birtch

We couldn't have had better neighbours at Abiwin. It was a pleasure to know you.

I am headed home to Ottawa next year after a long time (50 years+) living in New Zealand. I was going to look Al up but sadly found that he was no longer with us. Al and I worked together at Lake Louise sometime in the 70's. We worked in the boathouse renting canoes to tourists. He was a good pal and introduced me to long distance cycling as well as running. I also went on to run many marathons and entered in triathlons as an enthusiastic but pretty average competitor. We had a lot of great days together in the mountains and I remember him with a great deal of affection. At my time of life I reflect upon those people who significantly contributed to how I have lived my life. Thanks Al!

Deborah, I just saw that Allen had passed away. I know it’s too little, but I wanted to offer sympathies. I only met Allen a few times. But it was enough to know he was a great guy. And I remember how great it was to work with you. Too bad we didn’t stay in touch. Hope you are well and that we will have a chance to have coffee or meet again. Yves
